USS Constitution versus Guerrière 1812

The 44 gun American frigate Constitution captained by Isaac Hull met up with the 38 gun British frigate Guerrière of Captain Dawes in August 1812. After a fierce battle Dawes was forced to surrender having become totally dismasted. Hull would not accept Dawes’ sword, but took his hat instead!
